Per the Plastic Fantastic Manifesto:

“by persevering, 1% of the imagination can be realized.  Strive towards it in the face of opposition. Pursuit to make environments for this cause is better than any paid work in the whole world that exists in any everyday anywhere. Immersive environments for play, created collaboratively from the waste of the world we often so deplore. It is through this process that we better our relationship with our unavoidable everyday”

friends, artists, professionals, coffee slingers, teachers, farmers and colleagues who create work that embodies play through installation and sculpture were asked to come together and push their ideas in one grandiose overwelming, hyperbolic, saturated space.

The generous results of the request are an art exhibtion titled LETS PLAY NICE at SINErgy Project Space + Gallery. Curated by Diedra Krieger of Plastic Fantastic, LETS PLAY NICE  features work by:

Abby Sadauckas
Amanda Dillingham
Andrew Joseph
Dana M Osburn
Denise Karabinus Telang
Jacob Galle
 Jenn Rockwell
Jesse Beamesderfer
Justin Gibbon
Kat schneck
Katelyn Ingersoll
Kelly Ann Davis

Sarah Dewire

The works investigate play and invite viewer participation while offering critiques of topics as varied as identity, the wedding industry, the art world, and early rave culture.  Other works provide genuine entry into a reimagined everyday and crosscultural exchange through sincere invitation for engagement.

Signifiers tinker with satire, sincerity, subversive and dare we add grotesque. Visitors will be greeted by honking domesticated geese, glowsticks, belly buttons and a chance to dissect an earth worm, mirrors and baby arms, a gigantic bride and perhaps become a bride themselves if they desire, celebrities and a viewer activated dinner party, a crystal cave and “lets get mystical”, a horse and oportunity to join its horse ballet, turtle graphics, record listening, smoothies, toys, dolls, waves, wall, twister, and escape to the wizard world. It is expected that spontaneous, unscripted diversion and mock serious will be the order of the day for anyone who enters.

LETS PLAY NICE  will be on view from March 10 through April 16, 2011 at the SINErgy Project Space + Gallery  at 2310 N. American Street, 3rd floor, Philadelphia, PA. Gallery hours are Thursdays 6-9pm and  Saturday, 12 - 5 pm. Performances and receptions will take place on Thursdays, March 10 and April 14, from 6 - 9 pm.
